Bio

Albert Uresti was born in San Antonio’s Westside and is the oldest of eight siblings. Albert’s father was a self-employed mechanic and truck driver, and his mother was a stay-at-home mom who helped with the business.  Albert and his wife Elsie have been married for 47 years.  Albert has three children and four grandchildren.  While raising a family and working full-time, Uresti received his Bachelor’s Degree from Texas State University and his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio.  Albert served in the San Antonio Fire Department for 25 years and quickly rose up the ranks to District Fire Chief.  He has also served as a City Manager in surrounding communities.  Albert has devoted himself to his community’s Senior Citizens, Disabled Citizens, and Veterans as a civic leader, advocate, and volunteer.  Albert has also been actively involved in youth, school, church, and sports programs for four decades.  Albert has over 40 years of city, county, and state work experience and has devoted his last eight years to serving as the Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector.

Uresti’s Mission is “Working To Help Keep Families In Their Homes with an emphasis on helping our Senior Citizens, our Disabled, our Veterans, and ultimately our Children!”

Uresti’s Goal for his Office is “To Remain the #1 Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office in the State of Texas by providing the best possible service to our Citizens and Business Community”.

Awarded the “BEST IN CATEGORY 2020 NATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD” by the National Association of Counties (NACo) for his “Special Investigative Unit (SIU)” to combat Auto Theft and Vehicle Title Fraud.

Appointed as Vice-Chair of the Fiscal Policy and Pensions Subcommittee for the National Association of Counties (NACo), which represents over 3000 County Governments across the country.

Appointed to the NACo National Committee as a member of the Finance, Pensions, and Intergovernmental Affairs (FPIGA) Steering Committee, which has jurisdiction over all matters pertaining to tax, municipal finance, pensions, elections, the census, county and tribal relations, and more.

Elected to the Tax Assessor-Collectors Association of Texas BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

Uresti’s administration has consistently received a 90% excellent or above average rating by Bexar County Citizens.

IMPROVED BUSINESS OPERATIONS by working closely with high-volume customers such as Auto Dealers and Auto Title Services.

Negotiated LOWER CUSTOMER FEES for debit card and credit card transactions, including FREE ONLINE CHECKING and SAVINGS ACCOUNT TRANSACTIONS.
